Leadership Workshops built on five working principles

Run by Leadership Workshop Masters from Wales. Every session we deliver grows from these principles, not from a slide deck.

The five principles behind every workshop

1. Friction is the material

We don't smooth over disagreements. We use the real tensions inside your organisation as raw material. Participants work on actual conflicts they brought from their desks that morning, not hypothetical case studies about fictional companies.

2. Decisions over discussions

A good workshop ends with decisions made, not ideas listed. Each session has a forcing function: a deadline, a resource constraint, a stakeholder who disagrees. Participants practise choosing under pressure, then examine how they chose.

3. Small groups only

We cap every workshop at twelve people. Fourteen is too many. Eight is fine. Anything above twelve and people start hiding behind the louder voices. We want every person visible and accountable for the full session.

4. The facilitator leaves

Midway through day two, we step out. The group runs itself for a structured ninety minutes. This is where the real learning happens: when nobody is performing for the coach, the team discovers its actual dynamics.

5. Outcomes get measured at 30 days

Every participant sets one behavioural commitment. We follow up at thirty days with a brief structured interview. If nothing changed, we know the workshop missed. That feedback loop keeps us honest about what actually works.

Why we work differently from training companies

Training companies sell content. We sell confrontation with reality. A two-day workshop with us contains almost no slides. Instead, participants solve problems they are already failing to solve at work. The discomfort is the point. Growth follows friction, not comfort.

We have run 63 workshops since 2021. Forty-one of those clients came back for a second round with a different team.

Workshop map

We run four distinct workshop formats. Each targets a different leadership friction point. You can combine them across quarters, or start with whichever matches your most urgent problem.

FormatDurationGroup sizeCore friction addressed
Decision lab1 day6–10Slow or avoided decisions at middle-management level
Conflict intensive2 days8–12Unresolved interpersonal tensions blocking team output
Succession pressure test1.5 days4–8Emerging leaders who haven't been tested under real stakes
Board alignment sessionHalf day4–7Strategic disagreement among senior leaders or founders

Our head of product went through the succession pressure test in March. Within six weeks she was leading a cross-functional initiative she would have deferred to someone else three months earlier. The shift was visible to her whole team.

Your journey with us

Diagnostic call

A 40-minute conversation where we ask hard questions about what's actually broken. We don't need a brief document. We need honest answers about where leadership is failing.

Participant interviews

We speak individually with each person who will attend. These are confidential, 20-minute calls. We learn what people won't say in front of their manager.

Workshop delivery

On-site or at our space in Wales. The agenda is built from what we learned in interviews. No generic exercises. Every activity maps to a real tension in the room.

30-day follow-up

Structured check-in with each participant. Did the commitment stick? What got in the way? We share a candid summary with the sponsor, including what didn't work.

Is this a fit?

We turn away about a third of enquiries. These workshops require certain conditions to produce results. Here is what we look for.

You have a specific problem

"Our managers need development" is not specific enough. "Our regional leads can't resolve disagreements without escalating to the MD" gives us something to work with.

The sponsor will hear difficult feedback

Our follow-up report is honest. If the problem starts at the top, we say so. Clients who want a positive summary should look elsewhere.

Participants attend voluntarily

Mandated attendance kills the room. We ask that every participant has agreed to come, even if they are sceptical. Scepticism is fine. Resentment isn't.

You can protect two days

Participants must be fully off email and calls for the duration. If your culture can't allow that for even two days, the workshop will underperform.

Who runs the workshops

Two facilitators deliver every session. Gareth Llewellyn spent eleven years in operational management at a Welsh manufacturing firm before moving into facilitation full-time. He has a particular skill for reading group dynamics and knowing when to push a group harder.

Rhiannon Pryce came from NHS Wales, where she led organisational development across three health boards. She brings a structured diagnostic eye and an unusual ability to hold silence in a room until someone says the thing nobody wants to say.

Between them, they have worked with public-sector bodies, family-owned businesses, venture-backed start-ups, and one professional rugby club.
